MimiShibori is the business brain-child of gifted fine artist, Miriam R. Gillespie, who specializes in the ancient Japanese textile art known as Shibori.

Shibori is the traditional art of dying (not to be confused with standard tie-dye!) textiles using teqniques that include binding, clamping, folding and blocking – all by hand. Mimi Shibori makes clothing, blankets, comforters – even socks – using the traditional Itajima form of Shibori.

Mimi Shibori Custom Comforter

At the time Mimi approached WP Small Business, MimiShibori had no web presence whatsoever and was confused about how to even go about reserving a domain name.

But no worries, our philosophy is that we make the web development process comfortable for clients no matter what their individual level of Internet experience may be. We help to guide and educate our clients each step of the way as we create business blogs that fit the individual business.

Her goals for her site included:

Showcasing her hand-dyed Shibori clothing & textiles

Providing tutorials on Shibori dying methods

The ability to sell her one-of-a-kind Shibori pieces

A newsletter to keep her fans and customers up-to date on new products & craft shows

But could all this be accomplished with a blog?

Why yes, indeed – and then some! To assist her with the transition to the web, WP Small Business built MimiShibori a TypePad blog that does all of the above and more.

Today, Shibori lovers can purchase custom Shibori comforters – like the one above – directly from the new MimiShibori blog.

“I just could not have done it without you. Thanks for making the MimiShibori blog a huge sucess!”

To ensure that MimiShibori stays current, WP Small Business provides ongoing support to the site and advises Mimi on content creation. New additions to the blog are being planned for later this year.
